Defense of Marriage Act 1996

I went ahead and re-designed the site today, do you like it?
I am a passionate supporter of human rights struggles especially the gay civil rights movement.

It upsets me that the topic of same-sex marriage is still up for debate in the United States like there are two legitimate sides to the issue.

Authority is prevaling, or is it? Conservatives in america by being so anti-gay are just fueling the fire. Day by day more moderate people are realizing how hateful the system can be, which is why support of same sex marriage is rising year by year.

The biggest obstacle to social change is apathy. That apathetic tendency is stronger when "the other" person is affected. Are us gays still "the other," now? I think we will see gay rights solidified and quickly. We've been coming out in such huge amounts over the last decade that it causes our families and friends to see fact from stereotype in human form. When politicians attack homosexuals, they are no longer attacking some obscure concept out of the norm, but attacking somebody's neighbor, child, brother, friend, or work colleague. Suddenly calling us perverts and deviants has transformed into an untenable argument and what's left is "promoting responsible procreation". This idea still has some respect but let's not pretend people aren't going to wake up and realize you can't argue against human rights by giving explanations that have nothing to do with the actual issue. Baby steps...
